ABOUT US

Samart School is a free educational center in rural Cambodia located in the village of Spean Kaek, 17 kilometers east of Siem Reap City and just a few kilometers away from Bakong Temple, a popular destination for travelers visiting the Angkorian ruins of Northwest Cambodia.

The school provides English and computer classes to students in the surrounding villages.  Most of the families in the area are farmers and do not have the means to send their children to private language schools so Samart School provides a free supplemental education to students who could not afford one otherwise.  As a nation, Cambodia is rapidly developing and with the primary economic opportunities being in tourism and international trade, it is crucial for young Cambodians to gain proficiency with the English language and technology in order to have opportunity in their country's emerging economy.

With over 300 students and a very small staff, Samart School is always looking for volunteers and donations from generous people who want to help.  Since the school began in December 2011, many benevolent people have helped raise funds, teach, build new buildings, install a water pump, spread awareness and bring hope to the community.  You can too!  Look at the "Get Involved" and "Donate" parts of the website to learn more.
